ABSTRACT:

This resource contains streamflow data collected as to help validate forthcoming discharge data from the Surface Water Ocean Topography satellite. These data will be linked to the Surface Water and Ocean Topography Hydrology Community Discharge repository (SWOT SHCQ). The SWORD network version used here is v15. Discharge data were collated from measurements by Environment Climate Change Canada (ECCC) in Canadian rivers, the Permanent Okavango River Basin Commission (OKACOM) at Mohembo Station in Botswana, Wild Bird Trust/The Okavango Wilderness Project (National Geographic) led by Rainer von Brandis throughout the Okavango Basin, and field measurements led by Merritt Harlan and Heather Best (USGS) collected in September and October 2023 in both Madagascar (partnering with the University of Antananarivo) and the Okavango Delta (partnering with OKACOM). ADCP instruments from this fieldwork included both Sontek M9 & RS5, as well as TRDI RiverPro, and processed with QREV. Questions can be directed to mharlan@usgs.gov.
