Abstract

This resource contains data for visualization experiments of shear-thinning fluids radially displacing silicone oil in a rough fracture, including videos and Excel files. The movie files show the evolution of displacement interface for all the radial displacement patterns. The patterns include : I, capillary fingering (CF); II, compact displacement (CD); III, viscous fingering (VF). The fracture aperture field is measured by using the light transmission method and provided in the spreadsheet file format. The last spreadsheet file includes the data for fractal dimension (Df) and displacement efficiency (Si) of the invading shear-thinning fluids, as a function of polymer concentration (Cp) and flow rate (Q) at the end of the experiments. Each experiment was repeated three times to ensure reproducibility of the results.
