Abstract

The data included here are part of a larger research project on the lower Cosumnes River, southeast of Sacramento, CA, USA. This part of the research focused on the impact of geologic heterogeneity on groudnwater recharge under hypothetical levee setbacks. The data files here are shared to provide documentation for a research paper on "Evaluating levee setback distance for the co-benefits of groundwater recharge and riparian ecosystem function".

Levee setback distance analysis README

Input contains the files used by the model that calculates the stream flow, stream depth, floodplain inundated area, and groundwater recharge. These calculated values are saved under the Output folder. The model was run for levee setback distances of 0 to 3200 m and for 100 geologic realizations, thus the output are grouped by each levee setback distance and realization. Additionally, the model was run for three streamflow hydrographs to represent characteristic floodplain activating events identified by Whipple et al. 2017.
