Abstract
This resource provides the virtual reality (VR) application (APK) for immersive visualization of groundwater-table dynamics measured during the 2016 PERiodic Tracer Hierarchy (PERTH) experiment at the Landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO), Biosphere 2. The application renders the temporal evolution of the saturated zone across two replicated hillslopes using pressure-transducer measurements interpolated into animated three-dimensional volume representations. Users wearing a head-mounted display can explore the hillslope groundwater dynamics at true spatial scale with head-tracked navigation and interactive temporal control. Associated materials include a narrated video (see related resource) and a browser-based WebGL viewer at https://mkim-lab.github.io/b2-webgl.

LEO VR Visualization
This repository provides the VR application (APK) for exploring the groundwater table and saturated zone dynamics in a fully immersive environment.
Below, we provide instructions for installing the application on Meta Quest, and similar procedures can be used to install and run the APK on other Android-based VR devices.
Installing the APK on Meta Quest
- Download the APK file to your desktop device.
- Install both the Meta Quest Developer Hub (Windows/Mac) and the Meta Horizon app (mobile).
- In the Meta Horizon app, navigate to
Menu > Device Management > Device > Headset Settings > Developer Settings,
and turn Developer Mode ON. - Open the Meta Quest Developer Hub, connect your VR headset,
then drag and drop the APK file into Device Manager.
Next, select "Connected Device: Oculus Quest" and proceed with the installation. - Run the installed APK on your VR device.
