Abstract

This dataset catalogs 133 wildfire governance collaborative organizations across the western United States, spanning 13 states and multi-state regions (Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, Pacific Northwest, and Intermountain West). Data were compiled from publicly available organizational websites, founding documents, and reports. The dataset includes founding year timelines (1970–2023), coded vision and mission themes across 23 binary categories, and partner sector composition by organizational type (federal, state, local, nonprofit, and private). Organization names have been replaced with anonymous identifiers in this public deposit; a companion narrative summary describes restricted content not included here. This dataset was developed in support of landscape-scale fire governance research under the NSF Transformation Network (NSF #2115169). A variable codebook documenting all coding schema and definitions is included as a companion file.
