Abstract

This resource contains selected study-generated results from eight Scott Valley Integrated Hydrologic Model (SVIHM) scenario simulations. Four historical sequences (water years 2008, 1998, 2016 and 2017) are replayed as water year 2027 following dry and wet two-year antecedent bridges. Included are selected model-output and hydraulic-head records, derived numerical summaries, original analysis and plotting code, ten non-map data figures, and a modeling-workflow schematic. The ZIP groups these files with source attribution, licenses, dependencies, reproduction commands and scoped tests. Extract the ZIP and follow README.txt within its top-level folder to check file integrity, test the selected results and regenerate the included figures.

The resource supports main Figures 2-6, supplementary Figures S1-S4 and S6, and the modeling-workflow schematic. It excludes upstream model software and executables, inherited input and observation compilations, third-party GIS layers, and map Figures 1 and S5. References and access routes for excluded materials are retained. It is a selected-results archive, not a complete model-rerun distribution, source-to-executable rebuild, independent model validation, or reproduction of every earlier full-archive audit. Selected hydraulic-head records do not include a complete daily history or the active-cell mask needed to reproduce spatial head statistics. Recorded expectation bands do not establish independently verified pre-output timing.

Original results, documentation and artwork are licensed under CC BY 4.0; included original Python code is licensed under MIT. The file-specific license scope is given in LICENSE.txt, LICENSE_DATA.txt and LICENSE_CODE.txt inside the archive. These licenses do not cover excluded upstream materials.

SVIHM WY2027: PUBLIC RESULTS AND ANALYSIS CODE
===========================================

This is an output-only research archive, not the original SVIHM model or a
complete model-rerun package. It contains study-generated numerical results,
selected hydraulic-head output records, original analysis scripts, ten
nonmap figures, and a separately documented modeling-workflow schematic.

WHAT CAN BE REPRODUCED HERE

* MAIN Figures 2-6 and SI Figures S1-S4 and S6 as PDF and 600-dpi PNG.
* Basinwide monthly and annual SWBM arithmetic against the eight retained
  primary monthly_water_budget.dat output files.
* Selected storage, streamflow, and paired comparisons from archived
study-run output extracts; these are not new primary MODFLOW listing checks.
* The structure, identity and documented within-study record equality of
64 selected binary hydraulic-head records. The active-cell mask is not
included, so these tests do not reproduce mask-dependent head statistics.

The 112 scientific data files are preserved byte-for-byte from the selected
source records. SOURCE_SELECTION.json records their exact provenance and
hashes. Older historical scalar summaries remain contextual analytical
results; this package does not independently reproduce the supplied
basecase. Corrected Figure 6 calculates the two affected wet-arm values
from the primary-matched monthly tables, not the legacy rounded JSON markers.

QUICK START

Use Python 3.12 or a compatible version. Create an isolated environment and
install the pinned figure dependencies:

  python -m venv ../figure_environment
  ../figure_environment/Scripts/python -m pip install -r requirements-figures.txt

On macOS/Linux use ../figure_environment/bin/python instead. Keep the
environment outside the preserved archive. From this package directory:

  python scripts/verify_manifest.py
  python scripts/verify_results.py --out ../results_checks
  python scripts/build_figures.py --out ../rebuilt_figures

Use the environment's Python in place of python. Output directories must
be new or empty and outside this archive. A subset can be requested, e.g.:

  python scripts/build_figures.py --out ../figure6_check fig6

The verification script uses the Python standard library only. Its fresh
report documents exactly which checks ran and all limitations. The older
complete package's 55-check result must not be attributed to this subset.

FIGURE SCOPE

Figure 1 and Figure S5 are intentionally not included or rebuilt: their
map components depend on third-party spatial layers/model inputs excluded
from this conservative public package. MAIN Figure 6 is named
fig06_recorded_expectations here. Its neutral labels do not claim that the
expectations or bands were independently authenticated before simulation.
Figure 6(b) depicts twelve WY2027 months, not all monthly audit comparisons.
Historical internal keys such as registered_band_Mm3 are retained solely
for source-file continuity; a key name is not evidence of preregistration.

EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

No upstream SWBM/MODFLOW executables or model code, original model input
files or controls, DWR/SFR spatial geometry, supplied baseline output file,
full daily head history, downloaded raw observations, or recorded-expectation
narrative is redistributed. Those are not prerequisites for the ten
nonmap plots. The older materializer and complete primary-model audit suite
are not included. There is no fresh SWBM/MODFLOW run, source-to-executable
build, independent calibration validation, or upstream-input rights grant.

See SOURCES_AND_SCOPE.txt and REFERENCES.txt for upstream resources and
provenance, and LICENSE.txt for the specifically scoped license information.
The included modeling workflow has its own README and dependencies.

UNITS AND SIGNS

The monthly primary SWBM tables preserve their printed signs. Deep
percolation is computed as minus Recharge; SWBM groundwater-irrigation
demand is not MODFLOW WEL extraction. Net aquifer-storage gain is STO_OUT
minus STO_IN. Net SFR discharge is SFR_OUT minus SFR_IN. Fort Jones plots
use the historical conversion 2446.58 cubic metres per day per cubic foot
per second for exact graphic continuity. Plotted threshold lines are
descriptive, not independently demonstrated biological criteria.
