Abstract

This dataset supports a field study on water and nitrate-water infiltration under agricultural managed aquifer recharge (AgMAR) conditions in sandy, sandy loam, and clayey soils in the Upper Gangetic alluvial plain, India. It includes baseline and time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) raw field files, Res2Dinv inversion models, and Surfer grid and project files for twelve ponded-infiltration locations under natural-entry and sand-layer surface treatments. Products derived include profiles of volumetric water content change and percentage change, zeroth moment water volume calculations, and pre- and post-infiltration soil physicochemical properties (texture, bulk density, moisture retention, pH, electrical conductivity, nitrate and ammonium concentrations). Infiltration-rate measurements and fitted parameters of four infiltration models (Horton, Philip, Collis-George, Modified Green-Ampt); Python scripts for curve fitting, ERT-based volume estimation, and statistical analysis. The dataset is suitable for researchers working on AgMAR site design, vadose-zone flow and nitrate transport modeling, and hydrogeophysical method development, including calibration and benchmarking of ERT-based water content and petrophysical estimation techniques in heterogeneous alluvial soils.
