Abstract

This HydroShare resource compiles presentation materials and supporting resources for the CIROH Hydrological Briefing & Outlook conducted during Water Year 2026.
The collection includes:
- Monthly briefing slides (PDF format) presented during the CIROH Consortium Monthly Calls
- An Excel file summarizing key resources, including descriptions and access links

These briefings provide a national overview of hydrological conditions across the United States, including:
- Recent hydrological hazards and Local Storm Reports (LSRs)
- Precipitation, and streamflow conditions
- River flood outlooks and short-range forecasts
- Emerging risks driven by extreme weather and seasonal transitions

This resource is designed to:
- Familiarize early career scientists and trainees with operational hydrological products, including forecasts, outlooks, and national-scale monitoring tools.
- Support Research-to-Operations-to-Research (R2X) within CIROH, by connecting briefing materials with emerging tools, datasets, and workflows
- Highlight and introduce CIROH capabilities for water resources applications, through practical examples used in monthly national briefings
- Provide concrete use cases of operational data integration, including precipitation forecasts, flood outlooks, snow information, and drought monitoring

This resource provides a curated collection of materials supporting the CIROH Hydrological Briefing & Outlook for Water Year 2026.

The content compiles monthly presentation slides, operational resources, and CIROH-developed tools used to assess national hydrological conditions and support situational awareness.

Slides included in this resource are presented during the CIROH Consortium Monthly Calls.

Contents
1. Monthly Briefing Slides:
PDF slides for each monthly briefing Covering recent conditions, forecasts, and emerging hydrological risks

2. Operational Resources (Excel):
A structured list of national datasets and tools, including:
* Local Storm Reports (LSR)
* Precipitation and snowfall forecasts
* Flood and drought outlooks
* National Water Prediction Service (NWPS)
* USGS streamflow monitoring dashboard

3. CIROH Projects (Excel):
CIROH-related efforts contributing to briefing content:
* Cold region hydrology and river ice monitoring
* Event-based model evaluation (e.g., HRRR performance)
* FIMserv – Quick flood inundation mapping (HAND-FIM)
* DeepSAR Flood Mapper – SAR-based flood extent mapping
* FIMEval – Flood inundation mapping evaluation

Purpose and Use

This resource is designed to:
