ABSTRACT:

This comprehensive pluvial flood dataset for the Contiguous United States (CONUS) was developed by Team Hydropulse during the Summer Institute 2025. The dataset was created through the integration of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) claim data, filtered to include only pluvial flood events following the methodology of Nelson-Mercer et al. (2025), and Local Storm Report (LSR) records, specifically focusing on flash flood event types. The dataset provides detailed information for each event, including geolocation, census tract population, percentage of damage, and NextGen catchment IDs, and covers from 2005 to 2021. This resource supports robust analysis of flood impacts, population vulnerability, and the spatial distribution of pluvial flood damage across CONUS, making it valuable for researchers, policymakers, and disaster response planners.
