ABSTRACT:
The Panorama Minero del Estado de Sonora is an official technical report prepared by the Servicio Geológico Mexicano (SGM), a federal institution coordinated by the Ministry of Economy of Mexico, aimed at strengthening and promoting the national mining industry through the generation, integration, and dissemination of geoscientific knowledge. This document provides a comprehensive overview of the geological and mining infrastructure of the state of Sonora, with the specific objective of describing the current status of mining activity in the region. It compiles detailed information on mineral resources, mining property, exploration and exploitation activities, metallurgical plants, and the volume and economic value of mineral production. Additionally, the report presents advances in geological–mining cartography, geochemical and magnetic surveys, and other geoscientific programs carried out by the SGM. By integrating technical, economic, and infrastructural data, the document serves as a strategic reference for investment, regional development, and employment generation, particularly in underserved areas. Overall, this report constitutes a key source of information for understanding the role of mining in the economic development of Sonora and Mexico.
