Abstract
LOCATION: B1 is located on a ridgetop east of Niwot Ridge at an altitude of 2,591 meters, in a clearing surrounded by low-density montane forest. This high-elevation site has been used for climate monitoring since the 1950s.
ABSTRACT: A modern meteorological tripod was installed at B1 in 2020 to update the historic monitoring site with modern instrumentation. Measurements include air temperature, wind speed and direction, snow depth, precipitation, incoming and outgoing shortwave and longwave radiation, soil moisture, soil temperature, soil electrical conductivity, and soil volumetric water content. Data were recorded at 10-minute intervals.
B1 is part of the long-term Boulder Creek CZO and Dynamic Water Critical Zone monitoring network and is part of a network of sites along an elevational gradient from the foothills to the Continental Divide.
Data collection for this dataset concluded on October 2, 2024, following the end of the Dynamic Water Critical Zone (DWCZ) project. The B1 monitoring site may remain physically deployed; however, this dataset is no longer actively maintained or updated as part of DWCZ.
