ABSTRACT:

This dataset contains event-level hydroclimatic and hydrological variables for 209 rainfall–runoff events observed in four forest headwater catchments spanning contrasting ecoregions: Fuirosos and Font del Regàs in northeastern Spain, Upper Rappbode in Germany, and Krycklan C2 in Sweden. Each row represents one event and includes precipitation characteristics, antecedent hydroclimatic conditions, stream-discharge responses, riparian groundwater-table responses, runoff coefficients, and metrics describing the slope and hysteresis of the riparian groundwater–stream discharge relationship. The variables were derived from sub-daily monitoring records and were used in the statistical analyses and figures of the associated manuscript, “Contrasting drivers of riparian–stream hydrological dynamics during rainfall events across forest headwater ecoregions.” The accompanying README provides variable definitions, units, catchment codes, calculation details, and interpretation guidance. The dataset supports comparative analyses of rainfall–runoff generation, riparian–stream hydrological connectivity, and their variation across semiarid Mediterranean, subhumid Mediterranean, temperate, and boreal forest headwaters.
